Countermovement jump: jump height from slow-motion phone video
Your client does two countermovement jumps on the spot. From the phone's slow-motion video, MovePath times how long both feet are off the ground and calculates jump height.

What it measures
Height is calculated from flight time, from both feet leaving the ground to the first foot touching down: height = 9.81 × flight time² ÷ 8. The higher of the two jumps is kept.
It also records how the jump was made: contraction time from the start of the dip to take-off, RSImod (height divided by contraction time; higher means height produced faster), dip depth, the order of left and right feet at take-off and landing, and knee gap and absorption depth on landing.
Force plates measure differently, so MovePath numbers aren't mixed with force-plate results.
Where to put the phone
- Front view, 2–3 m, lens near the floor (30–50 cm)Phone upright and fixed, head to toe in frame with more than 30 cm clear above the head.
- Use the phone camera's slow motionCapture both jumps in one video. The app shows picture cards on how to film with your phone.
- Hands on hips, land with straight legsStand still for over two seconds, then dip and jump on the spot. Land on the balls of the feet and stand for 3–5 seconds before the next jump.
What the report shows
- Jump heightThe higher of the two jumps (cm) and its flight time.
- How the jump was madeContraction time, RSImod, dip depth, left/right at take-off and landing, landing knee gap and absorption depth.
- Change since last timeOn a re-test, the first sentence states the change since last time, and a trend chart shows the same test over time.
- PhotosTake-off, peak and landing, face blurred. Taken only with the client's photo consent and kept only on the trainer's phone and in the PDF. Report links carry no photos.
- Test video ProReplay the highest jump around take-off in slow motion, with take-off and landing marked and the hip path drawn.
Reference data
There is no age- and sex-based reference table for this test in the report yet. Instead, the report shows the change since the same client's previous test. We only add tables whose numbers we have checked against the original paper.
Please note
MovePath is not a medical device. This test records measurements to guide exercise; it is not a diagnosis. App readings may differ from a goniometer, tape measure or stopwatch. Use them to compare the same client's first test with today's, measured the same way.
